About This Place

Located in the heart of Atlanta’s vibrant Moreland Avenue corridor, Sevananda Natural Foods Market stands as a proud beacon for health-conscious shoppers and holistic wellness enthusiasts. This beloved natural goods store, herb shop, produce market, and supermarket has been serving the community since 1974, long before the rise of mainstream organic grocery chains. It’s a rare gem that combines tradition, authenticity, and community spirit deeper than just a typical health food store experience.

Sevananda’s strength lies in its thoughtfully curated selection of products that support any health journey or lifestyle choice. From an impressive array of dry herbs organized alphabetically for effortless browsing, to one of the largest bulk bin sections in the city, customers consistently praise the market for its broad variety and authentic commitment to wellness. One longtime patron put it best, reminiscing about the days when vegetarianism was an adventure in itself — and how Sevananda continues to evolve while honoring its roots.

What truly sets the market apart, however, is its attentive and compassionate customer service. Sharonda Jones highlights how the affordable pricing makes stocking up simple and stress-free, while Brandon Heard recounts the exceptional care provided by staff members like Reem and Faith, who go above and beyond to tailor recommendations — even taking time to explain arthritis-relief teas to his 74-year-old mother with warmth and patience. This level of personalized service, coupled with the knowledgeable team, transforms shopping into an enriching experience rather than a chore.

Beyond the shelves, Sevananda radiates a peaceful and welcoming energy that longtime visitor Yovel Riches captures beautifully. The feeling of stepping into a community hub where health, integrity, and joy converge is palpable — a place that invites you to linger, explore, and connect. Anna Liddy’s endorsement as a cooperative enthusiast underscores the store’s commitment to ethical, local, and sustainable practices, making it a refreshing alternative to national chain supermarkets.

Whether you’re in pursuit of holistic remedies, high-quality vegan and natural products, or just fresh, locally sourced produce, Sevananda Natural Foods Market offers a sanctuary of well-being in Atlanta’s bustling landscape. Its rich history, combined with genuine care for educating and supporting its customers, inspires a deeper appreciation for natural living—and a heartfelt loyalty that spans generations.

For anyone invested in nourishing their body and soul, Sevananda isn’t just a store; it’s a meaningful destination that invites you to embrace health with confidence and compassion.

Absolutely love this herbal store! They have an amazing selection of dry herbs, and it’s super easy to find what you need since everything is listed in alphabetical order. The prices are very affordable, which makes stocking up on your favorites simple and stress-free. Not only do they offer herbs, but they also carry a wide variety of natural products that can support practically any need—whether you’re on a holistic healing journey or just living a natural lifestyle. The quality and organization of this store make it a must-visit. Highly recommend checking them out!

Lovely store, lovely people, lovely service. Wanted to spend all day there. Spend your money at a co op like this instead of Publix/kroger etc. I live in Tennessee and work at the food co op here, but was happy to become a member. Thank you!!

An independent health food store of old with a large bulk bin section, Sevananda has been there since 1974, way before Whole Foods, when vegetarianism meant thick pieces of brown bread, which were hard to swallow, and fake meat products that wouldn't fool anyone. I wasn't around town in the '70s, but first went there about twenty years ago. It's a good place to find ingredients that you would otherwise have to travel to a distant ethnic grocery store to find, like the other day I was looking for cumin seeds and Sevananda had them in the bulk bin section. They play groovy music and it's also a fine place to have a healthy quick lunch with prices, which are perhaps slightly lower than other health food stores.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sevenanda Natural Foods Market — Atlanta, GA I’ve been coming to Sevenanda for nearly 10 years, and it has always been a special place — from the incredible selection of holistic, vegan, and health products to the peaceful energy that fills the store. But today was different. Today was extraordinary. I had the pleasure of being helped by a woman named Shaina (I hope I’m spelling that right) — and she completely transformed my day. What started as a simple visit turned into one of the most genuine, uplifting exchanges I’ve had in a long time. She took her time to answer my questions, offered thoughtful suggestions, and made me feel truly seen and appreciated. Her professionalism, warmth, and grace are exactly what customer service should be. Whoever made her manager — kudos to you. She embodies what this company stands for. Yes, the prices reflect the quality — and not everyone can always afford everything here — but when you receive that kind of service alongside that level of product excellence, it’s worth every penny. If you want to treat yourself to something wholesome, intentional, and filled with good energy — do yourself a favor and shop at Sevenanda

In little five points across from vortex and savage Pizza. Surprised by the size of this healthy food store. On entrance, I saw many things I liked so I grabbed a cart and knew I was going to be filling it. Got many great vegetables at good prices and the dry goods have great ingredients. The hot bar had veggies and bread so I tried it. The beans and bread were tasty. At $9.99 a pound it seemed a bit expensive for the portion size. Largest herbal section I’ve seen, I’m sure they are curing diseases. Adequate free parking but the parking lot a little tight plus the turn in is narrow and the traffic is impatient. Purchased some jewelry from the guy at the front entrance, nice guy-he has some cool stuff. The Zolene snacks were disgusting. Watermelons were too expensive here. Some Other veggies discounted-great. Associate seemed very eager to help and they were nice, which made me feel comfortable. They have a cool membership that will save you extra money. I can see myself coming back to this place especially for the herbs and of course for the vegetables. if I can find some of those other items closer to my home then I may not rush back here for those, but I highly recommend this place for you. I didn’t see any meat, I may have missed it, but I don’t think there’s any so if you need meat you’ll have to go to a different grocery store.
